What is the ICO?
The International Commission for Optics was created in 1947 as an Affiliated Commission of the IUPAP. Now it is a “Category 1 Full Member” of the International Science Council (ISC) with 54 Territorial Committee Members (13 Associate Members) and 7 International Organisation members.
ISC FULL MEMBER
The ICO is Category 1 Full Member of the International Science Council (ISC), the only international NGO bringing together over 200 international natural and social science unions and associations as well as national and regional scientific organizations including academies, research councils, institutes and foundations.
ICO ORGANIZATION
The ICO is ruled by its General Assembly that gathers evry three years. In the meantime, the ICO executive committee is responsible for the day by day activity.
THE ICO BUREAU
The ICO Bureau includes its President, Past-President, Secretary, Treasurer Asscociate Secretary, 15 Vice-Presidents and an IUPAP delegate.
STATUTES
Original statutes adopted at Delft, 1948. New statutes were adopted in 1999 at San Francisco.
